    innocent pastimes. The card playing in a neighbours house and cross roads dance and when money alloed they had the "Shebeen." The Clonmel and Kilknockin races were also favourie amusements All that could do so used walk along in a group and all come together again.
    This was considered a day of luxury as they treated themselves to a fresh loaf and a red hering and a cup of coffee and later in the day to something stronger.
