- In the town-land of Kilkerrin many years ago there lived a very clever man who held a fine position and had a good salary. He held this position from the Saxon rulers and landlord class. He had a wife and a large family and for some years they lived in comfort out of the preceeds of the position he then held.
An election came on in the county when a candidate of the plain people went on and a candidate of the landlord.
This man although he held a position at the will of the landlord spoke for the people's candidate. On account of this he was victimised and deprived of his fine position. He had nothing to fall back on and could not secure another position. He could not bear to see his children starving he decided upon going to the Lacknabhee shore to drown himself. As he was walking along the edge of the cliff he felt the solid rock bending under his foot. He looked down and he saw(continues on next page)- Collector
