- I never heard of gold or silver hidden in this townland (Mountrivers). I heard people say that there was gold hidden in Dunmore Castle (near Doonbeg). There is gold hidden in Doughmore seashore.

- A man was told to look for gold in a hole that was under a bush with a black handle knife. He did as he was told. He began to cut the hole down deep and when he went down a distance it was full of red worms. He said that he would play a trick on a neighbour. He brought some of them in a tin can and threw them over a neighbour's window. The neighbour's coat was on the chair and the worms went into the pockets. When the neighbour got up in the morning ten gold sovereigns fell out of his pocket.

- Note: I heard old people say that others looking for hidden money found a large number of "black ciarógs", and in another case,"báirneach shells".
