  1. Dysert Castle
A part of this parish is called Dysert which means a hermitage or wilderness.
It is said that many years ago there was a beautiful castle in this village.
The owner of the castle had two sons and one day a dispute arose between as to which of them would inherit the castle.
They agreed to fight a duel and the result was that one of them was killed and the other died shortly after the duel.
There is an ancient tombstone in this townsland with an inscription in raised Roman capitals around its edges and also the date 1587. Some people say that this tombstone was erected over the grave of the two brothers.
There is no trace of the Castle to be seen.
Tras-scríofa ag duine dár meitheal tras-scríbhneoirí deonacha.
