Mc Adam drew nigh
To the billow close by
Where he saw the brave
Councillor drowning.
He called into Jove
And the powers above
But Neptune he seemed to confound him:
Overwhelmed with grief
He could find no relief
So his morning soon changed
then to noon - day,
With a struggle he got
To the same fatal spot
