  1. I
Do you hear you tenant farmers
Of the news I am going to state
    Listen now and pay attention
    While my story I relate
News is gone throughout the nation
An order that we must obey
We can sell no pigs or cattle
On a fair or market day
    2
By this means they are intending
For to pull the nation down
We must have our fairs suspended
By an order from the crown
    You may read the proclamation
Posted up ion walls and trees
    About the regulations
Of the foot and mouth disease
    3
If you have a stock of cattle
    For removal off the grass
    They wont permit you travel
If you dont secure a pass.
    Rich cattle-dealers come from Meath
    And some from Monaghan too
    Pig-jobbers come from Dundalk
    And some from Mullacrew.
