- About sixty years ago a man named Bernard Sherlock, Church Street, Cootehill mades nails for boots. This is the way he made them.
He put six little nail rods in the fire until the tops of them were red. He had a small anvil and hammer for the making of the nails. When the nail rods were red he took them out and cut them into the size of nails he wanted. Then he flattened the tops of them and put points on them. He sold them to the shoemakers at sixpence per pound. He died about fiteen years ago.- Collector
