- August of the year 1932 a storm of more that usual severity descended upon the village of Ballina. That night's storms will be long remembered. It was what the old people called a dry storm. All night long the earth and skies ached for the relief of rain which the torn and shattered heavens seemed powerless to released to them It began to blow very hard towards morning - then all of a sudden rain, record rain and wind - a cloud had burst on a neighbouring hill.
