    No "dumb shooting" or firing in the air was admissible.
    In slight cases the principals were furnished with one pistol ,in gross cases two: the second holding another pistol ready charged in reserve.The parties with their seconds stood at each corner of a square .The gentleman who gave the command to "fire "stood some distance from them while Tipperary took the higher honours of the pistol.
