was in use Kilbrecken was owned by a bigot named Giles Darcy who with eyes of hatred used to watch the people assembling for Mass.fearing the punishment of the penal Laws for their pastor and themselves they decided to abandon the little Church and build one more secluded from his view. This they did at Noughaval where the remains of the little rude building may still be seen. This is how we think Killawinna got its name and the remains of this church too may still be traced. The altar stone of this church is in the house of a certain family named Enright who use it as a "hob".It was stated to have brought luck to the house.
