- Candles were made some 100 years ago from tallow obtained from the fat of cows, In every house there was a mould for putting the candle into shape. This was done by melting the tallow and leaving it in the mould to set.

- Years ago baskets were made in various ways. Those used for farm work were made square and placed on a horse's or asse's back by which manure was conveyed to the gardens, and turf used be brought from the bog and various other uses were made of them, They were made by Mr Fahy of Feigh-Quin,
- Some 50 years ago smiths were in great request. All work at that time was done by hand, some very good work was done by smiths in those days.(continues on next page)
