  1. The Cratloe people were always famous in the field of athletics
    Hurling and Football were the chief games played in Cratloe and bowling was also played.
    Hurling was manned by the stalwart hurlers in Cratloe and they were the Donlon brothers and Jack Frost.
    Once upon a time Brickhill and Bearna Mhór were hurling and there was a man named O'Donoughue and he was to play with Bearna mor and and he played with Brick-hill and they composed a song about it as follows.
    Jack Carmody and Kinnavane.
    And the mack's both loyal and true.
    The did'nt "renege" their native place
    Like bold O'Donoughue.
    About Forty five years ago there was fooball match in the Chapel field between Cratloe and it was considered to be the greatest match of that time.
