Holland - inventor of the Submaraine taught school in Mooghane - A ship was wrecked near Nixs' island. The wreck is to be seen there yet. The captain and the crew were lost.
The Trinigloss was wrecked on a reef near Rheianna Point during a storm. The cargo of maize was carted to Ralahine by the Halpin family
A coal-boat bound for Clarecastle was wrecked off Melican's island. All on board were lost (See page 8) - There were schools in (1) Cnoc Taidhg, Rheianna opposite Mr. Quinlivan's
2) Ballycalla in a field called Gairdín na Scoile
3) in Tullyglas on a hill called Cnoc na Scoile.(continues on next page)
