    The village I live in is called Gorthbawn & it is in the barony of Cara and the parish of carnacun.

    The village I live in is called Gorthbawn & it is in the barony of Cara and the parish of Carnacun. The word Gorthbawn means white feild and once the village was a big field of clover with no walls on it. There are ten houses in it at present but years ago there were thirty in it. The people were evicted out of them when Landlordism was in Ireland. Some of them imigrated
