    be baked standing before a great fire leaning against a branch of a tree that would be cut with great care before sun-rise. It would have three other branches attached so that it could stand alone and keep up the cake. The cross was marked on the cake by the woman of the house. She marked it with some instrument such as a blunt knife. She did this because her mother and grand mother and great grandmother used to do it before her and it is done to this day by a number of women.
