- Old CraftsMany years ago a man named Kelly Strokestown used to make carts and gates.Bridget Duignan was a great spinner. She lived in a little house in Asaun a few fields beyond Darby Meehan's. Every day she earned a lot of money. Everyone who went to her had to bring their own wool. Pat Taughran Croghan was a weaver.There were two churn makers in Boyle namely Nangle and Reynolds.Long ago the old people made their own shirts and sheets.There was leather made in Elphin. There was a tanyard in Elphin at the back of the church but the name of the makers are not known for certain. There was a man living near Strokestown(continues on next page)
