- The kinds of bread used in this district in olden times were:- oaten-cakes, boxty, and potato-cakes. Bread was made from corn which was grown locally. Flour was made locally. Querns were also used. Butter -milk was used in kneading.
Bread was made everyday. A cross was cut in the top (in the top) so that the cake would bake quickly. The vessel in which the cake was baked was called an oven.- Informant
