  1. In the year 1930 there was a big thunderstorm, and a tree opposite the house of John Devereux, Ballyknocken was struck by lightning. The tree was broken in two parts.
    That same time a tree near Roches of Summertown was also struck by lightning and was blackened as if by fire. Neither of the trees have been struck since.
