- In year's gone by there was an old school in Mallow some where around the spa-walk or to the back of the Clock-house. The teacher's name was Mr William Kelly He taught a boys school some of his pupils are still living, but are very old. The masters were paid in this way, any boy that could afford a penny a day brought it, The teachers had very small salaries that time. The children wrote on a slate with a slate-pencil.
