- About twenty five years ago a terrible flood occured in the river Blackwater near Mallow town. It had rained without ceasing for some time and the result was that a flood arose in the river. It overflowed its banks, and finally it covered the bridge, and Bridge Street, and Broom Lane and the lower part of Ballydaheen and all the fields near the banks were flooded. This flood did a lot of damage to men and beasts and crops. Many cows, sheep and horses perished. Timber hay(continues on next page)
