    the matter to the R. Irish Constabulary in the Barracks at Williamstown.
    The Fenians from the Villages of Ballaughayeague and Derryvode were aware that the Sergeant of the R.I.C. in the Barrack at Ballintubber was aiding the Sheep stealer's frain Ballyglass. And that the stolen sheep were taken to Ballintubber, and whether the sheep were afterwards killed, sold, an concealed, that the Sergeant of the R.I.C. in the Barrack got the biggest share of the profits.
    When the report of the stolen sheep was made to the R.I.C. in the Barrack at Williamstown, the Sergeant and a Constable from this barrack immediately went to the R.I.C. Barrack at Ballintubber to make enquiries re stolen sheep, etc. The Sergeant of Ballintubber listened to their enquiries - put the Williamstown Police on the wrong trail, conducting them to peaceful villages where they searched for the stolen sheep in fields, out offices, and dwelling houses,
