May day is regarded as the most important day of the year because the farmers luck for the year depends on the events of that day.
They would not like to give anything out of the house on that day. It is very unlucky to give away any fire on May day.
They would not give any milk to anyone because it is said that the milk would go for that year. Neither would they give but butter for the same reason. Every farmer had to watch his own cows in case anybody would come and milk the cows and have all the(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
