- In the village of Cloonrow there are two old houses. One belonged to Michael Kearns still living and the other to Mrs. Gannon. The houses were built with mortar and stone and the floors were made of mortar. They were thatched houses and had two panes of glass for the windows. There were half doors in both houses.
Most of the houses were thatched. All houses had a bed in the kitchen. There was a little building off the kitchen called "the hag". In this had the bed was set up. The front of the chimney was made of mortar and stones. Some houses had no window but a hole in the wall. At night they would pack the hole with straw. Sometimes the floors were made of clay. Half doors are common in the district. The fires were made of turf. In former(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
