  1. I often made a snare to catch a rabbit. The way I made the snare is. First I buy the wire and I cut four pieces about fourteen inches long. Then I put the four pieces together and I tied the wire to a weight and spun and so I put twist in the snare. Then I put an eye on one end of the wire and I put the other end in through the eye and then I go a piece of a cord about eight inches long and and tied it on to the wire. On the other end of the cord I put another eye to put a thick stick and split it at one end and stick the wire into the split to hold the snare about two inches from the ground. I often made a whistle out of a horsechestnut
The way in which I made it was First I made a little hole in it and then I cleaned it out and then I had a whistle. Another way I made a whistle was I cut a piece of a coultery bush and cleaned it out except a bit at one end. Then about half a inch form the top I cut a bit out of it and then I had another whistle made. I often caught a small birds. The way in which I used to catch them I set up a basket. The birds would come picking crumbs of bread which I had thrown under it. Then I would pull the rope and the basket would fall down on the birds and I had them all caught.
