About a hundred years ago there lived a little girl named Annie Deacy in a village named Knockmore in the parish of Bailenahaglish. One day when she was about twelve years of age she was herding cows out in one of the fields. She was sitting near the gap, which was the only entrance to the field. Suddenly she saw six nuns walking across the field towards the gap. It struck the little girl that she should take the bushes from the gap and let them pass. She did so, and they walked past her, through the gap, each smiling on her as they passed, and the last nun bowed her head towards her, but none of them spoke to her.
