  1. A famous character in the folklore of West Waterford and East Cork is Petticoat Lewis.
The following is a story about her from Aglish, Cappoquin Co Waterford. Stories from other districts will follow.
Story. One night two men went to a house to see Petticoat Lewis. They should wait till twelve oclock came and then she would appear. One man went home but the other man waited. When the man reached his own door he could not open it. Then he looked in the window and he saw Petticoat Lewis inside. She would not let him in. Then the man had to go to another house that night.
