But if they got what they wanted they would say prayers such as 'God bless you' 'May the Lord spare you the health' 'May the Lord increase your store'.
When selling those little goods I can assure you that the tramps know how much to ask for them. If they expect to get sixpence for an article they will ask about a half-crown for it. When they see that they are not going to get any more than it is worth they will keep coming down until they come to its real worth. It is very hard to make a bargain.
