- People still point out sites of houses the occupied but now in ruins, some of them a green field. There were seventeen houses from Carbally chapel down to Cloughernagh about half a mile distant. There was a row of houses from White's haggard in Ballymacaw up to Carrick's gate in Coolum. There were twenty houses from Lodge's in Graigue to Ballymacaw and now there is only four houses in Graigue. At that time Ballymacaw was a big village. At one time there were three shops in Ballymacaw. There is only one now.
