She boiled all the fat together. Then she got a bicycle pump and only left the outside of it. She got some cord and put through the pump. She then poured in the fat which was like water. Next evening at supper time two candles were lit. When they became hot they began to spatter like a wet candle and after a while they quenched. The old woman thought she had enough of candles for the winter. The workman was in the kitchen eating his supper in the dark. When they got light they couldn't find his candle. After a long time they found it half eaten by a cat under the table.
