  2. A cure for sore eyes is to bathe them in cold tea. A cure for the burn is to lick a mankeeper and then rub it to the burn. A cure for the mumps is to bring the person who is to be cured to a well, then lead him or her round it three times. The person has to put on an ass’s winkers. The child of a mother whose maiden name is the same as that of her husband has the cure of the mumps. A cure for toothache is to lick a frog.
