“We had been fishing for about six hours.”
We had been fishing for about six hours. We were returning home towards the peir at Creevy. With a crew of four we had a full load of Herrings. On nearing the peir, I spied someting bright sitting on a rock. We rowed nearer to the rock when suddenly the object started to move. It seemed to be working at its hair. As we came closer I saw that it had no feet, but from the waist down was in the form of a fishes tail. It seemed to be unware of our presence until one of the crew made a splash with an oar. It jumped up and dived into the water. By its shape I thought it was “mermaid”
