- The school area boasts no tailor and in living memory never did.
Homespun shirts and stockings are still fairly extensively worn and all the work is done in the home. Quilts made of homespun wool weaved locally and dyed red are fairly common.
There are about 40 spinning wheels in the district - relics of the time when the homespun industry thrived about 20 yrs ago. The number of weavers has been reduced to 3 and they weave thread supplied by department from Beggars Bush depot.
