The tailors used to go from house to house in olden times. It was all hand sewing. A man named Toland was the main tailor. He made suits shirts, and drawers.
Katy Alcorn’s uncles (Renny) used to make wrappers and drawers of flannel.
There was a good deal of spinning carried on. A man named Willie Elliott wove flannel.
The women knit socks, and stockings. The thread is bought in the shops. Seemingly no one spins in this district now. I saw one large spinning wheel in the townland of Maas. The woman of the house was spinning. This woman is dead now.
About 50 years ago the women in this part wore all white hand made stockings. The girls in this district like gaudy colours. Some people wear black when a relative dies.
