- The cats, dogs, animals, wild birds, stars and the sky give signs of the weather. When we see the cats sitting with her back to the fire it is the sign of a storm. When the dog is seen drinking water or eating grass it is the sign of rain.
When the crickets come out on the hearth and creep about it is the sign of rain. When the sea-gulls come inland it is said that there is a storm at sea and when the robins and blackbirds fly into the inside houses that is the sign of snow. When the geese are seen flying it is the sign of wind.
