- In olden times when the evenings were shortening round Halloweve the people ate two meals. One meal in the morning before going out to work, and and one on coming in from work.
The morning meal consisted of oaten bread, of which they ate a great deal and new milk. This was so sustaining that it was quite able to keep them up until the evening.
When they came in at night a pot of potatoes was boiled for the women folk were out working too, and a meal was then taken of potatoes and a herring and milk again.
During the long days three meals were eaten.
Tea was drunk as a great treat on special occasions at Hallow Eve, at Christmas and(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
