- These houses had thatched roofs in former times.
The thatched was cut in the bogs. The old houses had a bed in the kitchen. It was placed in the back of the kitchen there was a place built in the wall for it, and it was called an out-shot.
The fire-place was at the gable. The chimney was made of mortar and stones
The old floors were made of clay, Half doors are still common in the district. In former times it was turf and wood that was used for fire. The people used splinters(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
