  1. The following poem composed by Patrick Brogan of Arranmore was published in the "People's Press":-
"The Anniversary Of The Arranmore Disaster.
    Good people all around Donegal.
And folks both far and near,
Just listen to my mournful tale -
'Twill make you shed a tear.
The sad downfall, it grieves us all,
    And mercy we implore.
For those nineteen lives that have been lost
    On the banks of Arranmore.
    In Nineteen Hundred and Thirty-five
    On November, the ninth day,
From Burtonport the boat set sail
    Across the bounding bay.
For Arranmore their course they steered,
    It being their destiny,
And from the shore their way they bore,
Their hearts all full of glee.
The evening changed and mist and rain
    Almost blinded their eyes.
So they changed their course for a nearer port.
Then the boat it did capsize.
    The situation was sad indeed.
