Ar an leathanach seo

  1. When the pounding churning is being done there is a red coal put under the churn to have the butter plentiful. If a stranger came into the house while the churning was been made he ad to take it a while for fear of his bringing the butter with him.
    Long ago the old women cleaned the churn with sand, lukewarm water and a clean knot of straw. When the churn would be cleaned she hid the straw or if another woman got it and cleaned his churn with it she would have all the other woman's butter in her own churn. When the butter is taken out of the churn the woman makes the sign of the cross over the churn saying "God bless the cows for the milk." Before the churning begins salt is thrown on the lid and a small grain is thrown in the fire to keep away evil from the churn and to bring butter on it saying "In the name of God."
