   He left a grey haired mother a father old and grey
   In a dear little cot in old Ireland how they cried when he sailed away.

   O'h he thought on is dear old mother he dream't on his good old dad.
   He new if he fell in the action that cot would be lonely and sad.
   Where the shots and shells were flying he fought with the bravest style.
   And he died like a genuine hearted son of dear old Erins Isle.
   III
   On the eve before the battle his sleep was far from sound
   The dream't on the loved ones in Ireland as he lay on the cold, cold ground
   When the day of strife was dawning he went down on his knee
   And he prayed for the ones he loved dearest in that
