- The two varieties of early potatoes are British Queens and Epicure and the late varieties of late potatoes are Aran-Chiefs, Aran-Banners, Kerr-Pinks, Champion, Up-to-Dates, Duke of York, Noble-Kings. Some years ago there were other varieties known as Long-wordys and abundance which are gone out of date now.Potato crop in Spring.
The way you treat the potatoes in the Spring time is you take the lumps of clay from around them or either you fork the drill down till you meet the manure.
Then you get a small stone-roller which is called a drill-roller for to break the lumps. Then you grub the furrow with a grubber and next you use the plough which puts the soil up to the potatoes.
