We never put any marks onthe eggs when we are setting them, and if you wash the ggs before you set them no birds will come out of them. We keep a jug of holy water in the byre to keep them safe from lightening, or thunder. We have three cows at home, and one cow is called the spidiog, and the other is called grey horney heffer, and the other is called banie cow. When we want to put good luck on the cows, we put a string on one cows neck, and this will put good luck on the stock. The way the cows are tied out in the fields there is a rope(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
