It is called after the monks of Kilconnell Abbey When they were hunted from the Abbey they took refuge in the bog. There is a farm called Carrowreigh from Creaíramad Réid.LissardThere is a high fort in the townland. Near Hillswood there is a hill called "Spike hill". There were ten spikes on a high wall. The "spikes" were made of stone and they were about four feet high. It is the remains of the stand house for the steeplechase from Clonrbock to Coraneena.
