If the ball struck the ditch it would be a goal. They played Parish against Parish. The players would be dressed in their ordinary clothes and in bare feet. Every year there would be a match on the 29th of June. Kilglass was the best team in the locality.3. Fohenagh and Ballymacward used play in a field belonging to Paddy Kirwan. Ballymacward was best at football, Fohenagh at hurling.4. Years ago they had point posts on each side of the goal posts. They played 17 a-side5. A match was played once between Cahirlistrane and Tuam. Cahirlistrane won by a large margin. There was a song composed
"When we played Mountbellew
