Long ago when the people came into this village the village was crowded with firs. Aithne is the Irish for firs and Baille is the Irish for town so Baille na hattina si the town of firs. Killasolan
There was a man naned St. Solan. When he died the place was called Killasolan. There is a graveyard in this village and there are the ruins of an old church in it. There is one wall of the church standing. The people of the village are buried there. This church was destroyed long ago by Cromwell and his men.- Collector
