  1. Local Song

This song is telling about a girl who won

This song is telling about a girl who won the sweeps a year ago.
My name it is May Moran and the truth I am
    going to tell,
I was born in Toorliter, and my neighbours know me well.
I came over here to Nottingham, some nursing for to do
and I purchased this sweep ticket from a
    man near Killaloe.
It was but little notions that I had this ticket
it would win, although I made
my fortune there but still met better men.
It was early in the month of June for Ireland,
I set sail, and I crossed the English Channel,
with the outgoing of the mail.
I landed first in Dublin to Portumna next I went
and I hope you will excuse me for at first a
    wire I sent.
