  1. (continued from previous page)
Tis little was his notion that death would be
    so soon
When a sergeant of the Horse Police
    discharged his carbine
    and loudly cried to O'Donahue
    (now) fight or else resign
To resign to such a cowardly dog
Tis a thing I neer shall do
But I'd rather fight with all my might
    Says Bold O'Donohue
I'd range these woods and valleys
    Like a wolf or Kangaroo
    Before I'd work for Government
    Says bold O'Donohue
Nine rounds he fought with the Horse Police
    Until a fatal ball
Lodged in the heart of O'Donohue
which caused him for to fall
And as he closed his mournful eyes
To this world he bid adieu
So Christmas all both great and small
    Pray for O'Donohue
