- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)people know that February is the best month for sowing oats that they want for meal.
- Long ago on the last night of January the people used to make crosses of straw that would not be threshed. Then they used to put a stick through the middle of it. They used to put a potato on one end of the stick and they used to shove the other end in the roof of the house. When they would be sowing the crops the grains of oats that would be on the cross were the first grains of oats they used to sow, and the potato that was on one end of the stick was the first potato they sowed.
