- There are two forges in this district. Each of them is situated on the roadside, and a stream flows past one.
The two forges are thatched.
The doors are cut in halves, and there is one fireplace within.
The bellows are made with leather and a wooden is joined to them. They were bought in Dublin.
These are some of the implements the smith uses- hammers, bellows, tongs, chisel rasps and drilling machines.
The smith makes harrows and axes for the farmers.
When the farmer has to get his wheel shod, the smith puts on a fire outside to redden the iron.
Some of the sayings about the forge are- Forge water cures warts, and if the smith washes himself in it, he will be made stronger.- Bailitheoir
