- In this district there are many Mass paths or Mass-rocks. There is one Mass rock over in Rocktown and it is called Cannaiz A Ceampall.
Long ago the priests used to say Mass there. Their alters consisted of stones. Long ago it was a very common thing for priests to be hunted. Protestants used to hunt them over the mountains.
One time Protestants were looking for priests who hid in the Manorhamilton Castle and they did not know the way. At the Lough cross-roads which is about four miles from Sligo they met a man the name (of) the name of Murtaoh mac Sharry. They told him if he would direct them to the castle where the priests were hidden that they would give him a large sum of money.
He decided to go at once but brought them a wrong direction. The night was very dark and the only way they could see him was to dress(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Faisnéiseoir
