- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)they hang up their stocking.On St. Stephen's Day the young boys disguise themselves with false faces and old clothes. They get a wren if possible and tie it to a stick. Then they go from house to house singing and dancing. When the arrive at each house they recite the following verse:''The wren, the wren, the king of all birds.
On St Stephens day he was caught in the furze. Up with the kettle and down with the pan. So give us some money to bury the wren''.
Some one of them , on receiving some money from the people of the house, produces a musical instrument and plays reels and jigs to which all the others dance. Having finished dancing they thank the people of the house and proceed to the next house where the same performance is gone through.
